The Anne Keel Room

The Red Deer of Exmoor

A new, permanent exhibition telling the story of Exmoor's wonderful Red Deer herd was officially opened by the late Johnny Kingdom. It's centrepiece is a diorama featuring a taxidermy specimen of a stag set against a stunning panoramic photograph. Visitors can even hear the stag roar!

Elsewhere in the room are information boards about the history of Exmoor's deer; the annual life-
cycle including the autumn rut; and all about antlers.

The exhibition also features a wonderful chair made entirely from antlers by Tom Lock from Hawkridge.
The Dulverton & District Civic Society is most grateful to the ENPA Partnership Fund, Exmoor Trust and Dulverton Trust for their financial support towards creating the Red Deer exhibition. The Society also owes much to the late Ann Keel, a former volunteer, for her most generous legacy
