The Archives

We have a room dedicated to photographic, video and oral archives, where our visitors can see photographs or old cine-film or hear exerpts from the historic records.

We are very proud to host the (late) Michael Deering photographic collection where our visitors can peruse generally or look for specific photographs using the very comprehensive manual index.  Subject to the checking of copyright it may be possible to purchase a copy of a photo within the collection.  Payment has to be made at time of request.  Forms and further information can be downloaded
HERE.  We have additional photographs constantly being donated to the Centre and we are making these available to our visitors too.

Additionally, we have 4 very short cine-films (now installed on a state of the art touch screen) showing different events in the history of Dulverton and District.  Lots of faces from the "old days"!

The Exmoor Oral History project can be accessed via our dedicated PC, traditional telephone, or CD player where short edited interviews can be enjoyed.  Alternatively please click on the link

The "REFLECTIONS, life portraits of Exmoor" book (including CD) which accompanies the archive, can be purchased from our shop during normal opening  hours or postage and packing can be arranged if necessary

We have a number of reference books relevant to Dulverton and its locality for use by our visitors, including a copy of "The Book of Dulverton" and "Old Dulverton and Around".  (Click HERE for details of comprehensive book list.)  As the books are now out of print, you will need to notify us
HERE before your visit, so that they can be made available to you (please give us at least 7 days notice).

We also have a photocopy of "Kellys Directory" covering Dulverton and villages in the locality – a fascinating record of years gone by.

We are constantly seeking to develop our Archive further and if you have any old photos or cine camera footage that you would like to loan or donate to us, then please click
HERE and give as much detail as possible and we will contact you.
